Parenting Your Young Adult Child

 

Weekly parent group for moms and dads who want to guide their young adult children into a successful adulthood.

Your older teen, or 20-something may be struggling with anxiety, depression, risk aversion, or just lacking the confidence and life skills to launch into independent life. Learn and get support from other parents to help build the skills and tools to guide our children through this major developmental transition.

Your Group Facilitator, Angela Sitka, LMFT

Angela Sitka is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 10 years of experience providing clinical psychotherapy with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

The past 6 of those years as a licensed clinician in the Department of Child Psychiatry at Kaiser Permanente.

She currently runs a support group for parents of teens with significant mental health concerns, in addition to her work with individuals and families. She has run parenting classes based on Positive Parenting principles, and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Groups for adults.

She has conducted research and published in a peer-reviewed journal about factors of resilience in children in unsupervised self-care home environments. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of California Davis with highest honors and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sonoma State University.

Angela currently has a private practice in Santa Rosa, CA providing psychotherapy for adults struggling with relationship issues, parenting, and therapy for young adults.

She has been featured in publications including TIME, Cosmopolitan, Insider, PsychCentral, AskMen, and Today on topics of family boundaries, toxic family relationships, codependency, and other relationship/family issues.
